1. Animal Collective – Feels (Paw Tracks). The Animal Collective reinvent psychedelic music. What Zepplin did with the blues, they're doing to the Beach Boys. (This album is the Smile I was hoping for.) With manic child-like glee, their crazy banshee rhythms and unique vocal stylings transform and modulate in unexpected and often breathtaking ways, deftly defining a sonic world from quiet to loud and slow to fast. Wholly organic, fecund and somewhat feral, their psychotropic pagan pop sounds conjure places that are enchanted (etimology: magic, singing), helping you commune with your inner gnome or sprite.
